VOCAL COACHING + RUSSIAN LANGUAGE COACHING

It all started from the notion that perfecting my vocal technique was something I needed to improve in order to become a professional singer. The journey of understanding my own voice developed my priorities: HEALTH, MUSICALITY, AND EASE.

HEALTH

Pushing never brings sustainable and long-term results. It provides a short term solution that our body cannot sustain in the long run. Don’t rush and give yourself time.

MUSICALITY

Read the composer’s notation carefully and listen to your intuition to make musical decisions.

EASE

Spend 15 min per day practising the warm-up routine and in no time your anatomy will understand the process.

Apart from practising this myself, I wanted to understand how I can not only pass my knowledge on but also understand the same functions in different people.

In 2018, I received an LRAM Teaching Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music. During that time I was actively researching the spheres of vocal technique and Russian language pronunciation in singing. Over four years, I taught more than 20 students. I coached beginners as well as professionals in both vocal technique and Russian language repertoire.

In Summer 2022 I lead vocal workshops for ‘The Artist is Present 2.0: Musical Response and Cultural Exchange’ program organised by Strange Music Festival, in Düsseldorf, Germany. My colleague Christoph Götzen and I organised two weeks of free improvisation workshops for locals and for Ukrainian musicians who were forced to leave their country as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

PHILOSOPHY

BEL CANTO + IMPROVISATION

Centuries of BEL CANTO teaching through vocal experts and opera singers brought specific standards to the world. This knowledge is crucial in order to achieve these very standards. However, often practicing this knowledge can be confusing and frustrating and that is why I decided to explore improvisation

IMPROVISATION - the music of the moment which comes and will never come back. It is a beautiful experience in letting your sound go in the most unpredictable forms. This element of unpredictability gives a chance to explore what your voice is capable of and helping to unlock the physical and mental blocks which aided me and my students to progress further.

TESTIMONIALS

Grégoire Montagutelli - Baritone

“I like to sing and I’m in the music since I’m a child, the reason why I started singing lessons with Milana is to develop the power and harmonics of my voice. During the lessons I get a very clear feedback and a sense of a direction. For me it is important to have a structure, it helps me to concentrate on details and Milana provides logical path of the lesson from warm up to singing the repertoire”

Ana - Soprano

“Singing for me helps to stay connected to my emotions. I started taking lessons with Milana in Autumn 2022 and my motivation was to understand my body and my voice. What I love the most about our lessons is that Milana always respects my time of progress and there is never an unnecessary pressure”
